Hello! My name is Rita, or Murph, or any respectful nickname :) I use they/them pronouns, and I am a sophomore Film Studies major.

I am currently at my parents' home in Wilmette, Illinois, about 25 minutes outside of Chicago.

Horror film seems to be a very accessible way to view the fears of people as well as what filmmakers think their audiences fear. For example, are people scared of small kids?! They are framed in such a scary way in horror films but any fear I had vanishes when I see some kid just being slightly weird, as kids are sometimes. Obviously if something disturbing happens then it is frightening, but often it feels as though fear is supposed to be present even with just the presentation of a "creepy child" character. I really want to know why this element is so prevalent. I'm sure it has something to do with loss of innocence or unresolved childhood trauma or something similar, let me know!

How I'm doing:

This time is challenging for everyone in different ways and on different levels. I'm grateful for my family, they are difficult to live with but ultimately care about me and want to make this a peaceful time. I missed being with my little brother a lot and we have been playing lots of video games. Obviously, I would prefer to be on campus but having some more free time to do things that are good for my health has been beneficial for me. I usually don't have time to make art or cook and that has been exceptionally nice.

Rita your photo is adorable and I love the design of your blog! I'm sorry quarantine has been difficult but i'm so happy that you are finding time to spend with your little brother and making art! I miss seeing your face around campus but for now I'm glad I can keep up with your thoughts on films!

your photo in the end is the cutest thing I see on this week. It is such a nice pic with your beautiful smile and red cheek. The color of the background just make me so calm. And your blog style is really nice, I enjoy this text font a lot.

Back to the topic! I am so excited that you talk about kids as I do in my blog!!! They are so innocent but creepy at the same time. I think the reason why I think kids are scary is because they see the world through such a clear lense in young age and their thoughts are not yet ruled by anything. The way they perceive the world and…
