I actually really liked this film while watching it, especially until the last scene. I was still shocked, but an interesting chase scene became a sudden, twist-ish ending. I would not watch it again, though. I thought that the child dying was honestly more disturbing that the occult scene at the end, although I really enjoyed the last frame portraying the scene as a miniature set.
I think ultimately that the daughter dies and is punished for too many strikes against her, being a girl and neurodivergent. Realizing this is why she had to die, for an "improved" body is terrifying, and speaks to a lot of real fears about self-inadequacy.
The Babadook Mom was a better example of monstrous feminine than the mother of this film. This film's feminine monster seemed to be the girl until she died. Well, actually, the female-led cult seemed to be the monstrous feminine, but it is oddly more of a societal threat rather than the personal threat of castration that the solo feminine monster often represents.
Horror movies seem to be about punishment.
There seems to be some self-abjecting among children characters about their mother, if that makes sense. They want to be no part of her or of her family for the duration of the movie, despite her efforts to let them in emotionally. The children show more of a disinterest and disgust towards their mother rather than any abjection by the mother.
